Harvard College Field Trip

The Newton Girls Who Code club is going on a field trip!

We’ve been invited by Harvard College's Women in Computer Science club to come for a visit on Friday, April 17, from 4:30P-6:00P. Harvard WiCS members will conduct a tour, run some demonstrations, host a panel discussion, and hold a Q&A session. All Newton GWC students are invited to attend, both the Lovelace and Hopper sections are invited. I am also asking for a few adult volunteers to help chaperone the group so that we have a 5:1 student to adult ratio on the trip.

The visit will take place on Harvard College campus, in the Maxwell-Dworkin building at 33 Oxford Street, Cambridge. The club will provide round-trip bus transportation from the Newton Library, leaving at 4:00PM sharp and returning around 6:30PM. Students may take the bus, or may arrange their own transportation to Harvard. If you are taking the bus, please arrive at the library by 3:45PM so we can board the bus and get settled for a 4:00PM departure.

The trip is entirely free, with no cost to students or families.

Please let me know whether you plan to attend the trip or not by filling out this survey: http://goo.gl/i6GCrd . It has up to 3 pages, depending on your answers, so please be sure to fill out the whole survey until you get to (and press) a “Submit” button.

If you will be attending the field trip, I will need a permission form signed by a parent or guardian: http://goo.gl/aMhhAn . Please return the form to me by April 10, either by emailing me a scan of the signed form, or by handing me a physical paper form.

I’m sure this is going to be a great trip! Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions.
